Habitat Housing Project Moves Toward Federal Funding Release

Franklin County is preparing to request the release of $60,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant funding for a Habitat for Humanity property acquisition on Main Street in Fort Loudon.

Habitat for Humanity of Franklin County plans to construct a 1,200-square-foot, detached ranch home containing three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The home would be built for a low-to-moderate-income family.

The entire project is currently estimated at $295,000. Franklin County determined that it would have no significant impact on the human environment, meaning a separate federal Environmental Impact Statement is not required.

Property acquisition is expected during 2026. The county’s public notice currently lists 2029 as the anticipated year for completion of the home.
